Gothenburg to host press women
Local presenters on list for two-day convention.
Hometown pride and friendly people will welcome Nebraska Press Women (NPW) at its fall convention in Gothenburg.
Local and area presenters will describe their communications strategies for audiences ranging from newspaper readers to corporate collaborator; and from economic development to personal gratification.
The Gothenburg Public Library is the site of the Oct. 3 general meeting, presentations and noon luncheon.
The afternoon session is at the Monsanto Water Utilization Learning Center while the evening banquet will be at Walker’s Steakhouse.
Presenters include Elizabeth Barrett and Deb Egenberger, journalists from the Gothenburg Times who will discuss community reporting; Anne Anderson, director of the Gothenburg Area Chamber of Commerce who will speak about communications and economic development; Pat Dannatt of North Platte who will present “Writing Your Own Obituary”; Kent Aden of Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District who will talk about phragmites weed control; Chandler Mazour, Monsanto center manager who will share about communicating company goals; and LaVon Pape who will reflect on being a columnist, author, playhouse director and tour guide.
The convention ends with the banquet and the announcement of NPW’s Communicator of Achievement award recipient—the organization’s highest honor.
Day-only registrations for the public are $30; banquet-only tickets are $25. Both are due Sept. 18.
