Swedes win dual over Broken Bow
Golfers looking for consistency.
The Gothenburg golf team got its first win of the season at home on Monday in a dual with Broken Bow at Wild Horse Golf Club.
The Swedes defeated the Indians 222-224 in the best 5-of-8 format.
Tanner Johnson of Broken Bow was the meet medalist shooting a 39 on the front nine.
Jeramie VanAcker and Derek Franzen each shot 41 to lead the Swedes.
“Jeramie and Derek are providing good, consistent play for us in the top two positions,” said coach Jim Henke.
Sophomore Alix Meisinger surprised Henke with a score of 44 for the third Swede spot.
“That gave us a big lift as a team,” the coach said.
Matt Marshall and Jack Dudley completed the scoring.
“We are hoping to establish even better consistency as there are some big meets coming up,” Henke said.
The Swedes host the annual Gothenburg Invite at Wild Horse on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. Then Gothenburg travels to Holdrege Tuesday for another invite.
