Shooters win several awards
Ballmer, Kucera shoot 50-straight.
DONIPHAN—The weather finally cooperated for shooters at the Mid-Nebraska Trapshooting Conference in Doniphan on Saturday.
Gothenburg shooters took advantage of the sun and garnered several conference awards.
Alex Ballmer was the high overall male champion hitting 96-of-100 rocks.
Ballmer earned a 50-straight badge shooting perfect from the 16-yard line.
Austin Kucera shot 50-straight as well putting him and Ballmer in a five-way shootoff for high senior male. Elliot Schmit of Grand Island took the prize.
Ballmer was also in a shootoff for high handicap male from the 24- or 25-yard line after shooting 46-of-50 but he lost to Lance Johnson of Republican Valley.
Gothenburg senior shooters Levi Bahe, Alex Shultz and Nolan Wilson managed to earn 25-straight badges.
Bahe was in a shootoff for the high handicap male from the 22- or 23-yard line but lost to Shane Kohmetscher of Republican Valley.
The senior team of Bahe, Wilson, Kucera, Shultz and Ballmer won the high senior team award for a total score of 242-of-250.
That same team also won the high senior overall team combining 16-yard score and handicap for 462-of-500.
Colby Simants shot Gothenburg’s best junior score at 36-of-50.
There is one more conference shoot on Saturday when conference awards will be presented for the past six weeks.
The state trap shoot is April 29-May 1 in Doniphan.
