Swede Golfers start season above par

KEARNEY—The Gothenburg Girls were on the road Aug. 24, to compete in the first match of their season at the Kearney Catholic Invite. The Swedes had a successful day as they took home the championship plaque and five individual medals. They battled against nine other teams. As a team they scored 412 with Grand Island Central Catholic and Kearney Catholic right on their heels with scores of 414 and 415.

“We have really focused on being consistent from one swing to the next and eliminating three putts on the green,” stated Coach Foster. “Their extra efforts on the putting green and commitment to their individual routines have payed off.”

All five of the Swede golfers medaled as they all placed in the top 15 scorers on the day.
