All-Star Senior Melon

KEARNEY—On July 12, Radley Shaw played in the 2017 Mid-Nebraska Baseball League All-Star Game held in Kearney. He played on the West Team that won 13-9. The coaches of the West allowed the players to play anywhere they chose on the field. The key was that they had to have fun. The West took any early lead that was up to 9-3 in the later innings of the game.

Every time the East team closed the gap, the West had the answer. The whole team seemed to have a good time as they played relaxed and joked with one another throughout the game. Shaw had quite the evening as he played a variety of positions that had him in the outfield, shortstop, second base, and he also pitched a couple of innings. He batted well and even scored during the winning effort by the West team. Up next for the Senior Melons will be the area tournament in McCook, with their first game set for Friday, July 21, against Herschland at 4:00 p.m.
