73 graduate from GHS; Evans says goodbye after 21 years

Parents, grandparents, friends, family members and fellow students packed in to the Gothenburg High School gym Sunday, May 14, to celebrate as 73 young men and women received their diplomas representing the class of 2017. The emotional tone for the day was set by retiring principal Randy Evans, who brought most of the senior class to tears during his message of gratitude and reflection on his 21 years of serving GHS. Seniors Sarah Habe and Jaci Teahon gave the opening remarks. Following a musical selection by the varsity choir, and a song by the varsity band directed by senior Alex Meyer, Meyer traded in his conductor’s wand for the microphone and presented the senior address.
