County reinstates village contract for sheriff patrol
Lincoln County commissioners agreed Monday to reinstate the previous contract the village of Brady had for guaranteed law enforcement hours.
During their regular weekly meeting in North Platte, county board members voted unanimously to continue offering sheriff patrol in Brady 50 hours per month.
The move comes after village residents voiced their concerns over not having the presence of a deputy in town.
At their January village board meeting, trustees voted to discontinue the contract with Lincoln County to save money that may be necessary to pay for sewer system upgrades.
The county accepted that request in February. Public response opposed to the cancellation was enough to change trustees’ minds.
The contract, originally approved in September 2008, will resume without changes. It runs through 2012.
Trustees were scheduled to sign final paperwork during their monthly meeting March 10.
